How we measure+
  • Every 5 minutes we poll the RMV realtime feed for all tracked stations and store departures. Each journey is then polled individually every 60 seconds via the HAFAS journey detail API to capture per-stop realtime data and cancellations.
  • The cancellation rate is the share of cancelled departures out of the total.
  • A non-cancelled departure counts as delayed when its realtime is ≥7.5 minutes behind schedule. We measure departure time, falling back to arrival time (e.g. at terminus stops).
  • Ghost departures (👻) are scheduled trips that never received realtime data. According to RMV, the absence of realtime data is “a very strong indicator that the bus will very likely not run”. The system cannot receive a live position because there simply is no bus on that route. We count them separately from confirmed cancellations.
  • On-time performance (OTP) is the share of departures that were neither cancelled nor delayed, a standard metric in public transport.
  • Ranking uses an on-time rate pulled toward the network average when a line has few departures, rather than the raw rate. Otherwise a line with three trips and two delays would sit at the top forever. The figure shown is always the real one.
  • For line and operator statistics we count each journey once, even if it passes through several tracked stations: we deduplicate by journey number. When we see a journey at more than one stop, we take the earliest departure time and the worst status (cancelled > delayed > on-time).
  • Colors: green from 90%, orange 80–89%, red below 80%.
